Groupage, also called consolidated freight, brings consignments from several shippers together on one trailer. Your goods move through a cross‑dock terminal, where they are combined and loaded with other shipments heading the same way. You are charged for the pallet spaces or weight you use rather than the whole vehicle. It suits regular, smaller volumes that would be expensive to move on a dedicated truck. Once a consignment fills a trailer, it moves as full or part-load road freight instead.
Eurogate has experience supporting customers across a wide range of sectors, from food and packaging through to packed chemicals, construction equipment and specialist consignments outside standard pallet formats. The Group also has a strong track record supporting sectors such as oil and gas, engineering, steel fabrication and energy.

Eurogate’s services are delivered through experienced teams who manage lanes across their regions, coordinate between markets where required, and support customers from collection to delivery. That includes customs management, local market guidance, and direct communication throughout the movement.
Provide your pallet count, weight and destination. Our office will confirm the next available departure and reserve the trailer space your goods need.
At the cross-dock your consignment is sorted and loaded with other freight bound the same way, so the trailer runs full and the cost is shared.
For a leg that crosses an EU border, the office that booked the consignment prepares the export and import declarations in-house as part of the same booking.
The service runs on schedule. Your goods are delivered within the consignee’s delivery window, and proof of delivery is provided to you.
The structure depends on the route, the consignment and the level of support required. Features may include the following:
Smaller volumes of ambient and chilled food and beverages move on shared trailers. Where the cold chain has to hold across the leg, temperature-controlled transport runs on our refrigerated service.
“I’ve been working with Eurogate Logistics for about seven years, and I can say it’s been a good seven years. As is often the case in transport, there are better months and then there are really tough times, but the Eurogate Logistics team always rises to the occasion, seeking the best possible solutions to keep the carriers they trust happy. It’s hard to find this approach these days.”

Speed matters in logistics. We’ve built our operation around getting your cargo where it needs to go without delay, backed by terminals positioned across eight nations and staffed by people who know the work.
We consolidate, sort and reload your freight at our own cross-dock terminal before it runs.
The office that books your groupage stays with it through to delivery, customs included.
Whether it stays a single pallet or grows to a full trailer, the same team handles it.
Groupage is shared-trailer road freight. Smaller consignments from different shippers are consolidated into one trailer that runs on a fixed schedule, so each shipper pays only for the space or weight their goods use rather than a whole vehicle.
By the space your consignment occupies, measured in pallet spaces or chargeable weight, rather than per trailer. Because the cost of the trip is shared across several shippers, it is the economical option for regular smaller volumes.
Groupage moves on fixed weekly schedules and includes consolidation, so transit is planned rather than direct and is usually a little longer than a dedicated full load. We confirm the departure and expected delivery when we quote.
From a single pallet upwards. If your goods are smaller than that, provide the dimensions and weight so we can consolidate them onto the next suitable departure.
Yes. Our UK customs desk files import and export declarations in-house on HMRC's Customs Declaration Service, handled by the same office that books and consolidates the consignment.
When your cargo fills a trailer, or needs to travel direct without consolidation stops, a full or part load on our road freight service is usually faster. See the Road Freight page, or tell us the volume and we will advise.
