Where the rating comes from

Eurogate Logistics Group holds an EcoVadis Bronze Medal for its sustainability performance. EcoVadis is one of the more widely used business sustainability ratings, and the score comes from EcoVadis itself rather than from anything we write about ourselves. That is the whole value of it for a client. The medal sits on the record because an outside body put it there.

The assessment covers four areas: environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Each is scored against a shared global benchmark, so a Bronze places a company at a specific point on a scale that applies to everyone assessed. A buyer comparing two freight partners can read the same scale for both.

EcoVadis scores four areas against a shared benchmark: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and procurement.

For supply chain teams, this lands in a familiar place. More and more of them are asked to evidence the sustainability of the partners they use, alongside their own operations, and that evidence has to stand up to an auditor or a board. A recognised rating turns “our forwarder takes this seriously” into a figure a stakeholder already knows how to read.

The EcoVadis result did not come on its own. FourKites also named Eurogate a Premier Carrier for the second half of 2025, a rating built on operational data and shipment visibility rather than on a sustainability questionnaire. So two separate bodies, measuring two separate things, reached the same read on how the group runs. It holds up when someone outside it does the checking.

“Bronze is a position to build on. We read it as a baseline, and the next assessment is the one that counts.”

None of the work behind the rating is new. Combining road with rail to cut emissions on longer corridors was already part of how we plan. So was holding to consistent operational standards and keeping records clean enough that an auditor can follow them. EcoVadis put a measure on work that was already running.

What it gives your procurement team

If your business reports on the sustainability of its supply chain, a forwarder with an independent rating removes a step. The evidence is already there, in a format your stakeholders accept, so the conversation moves on instead of stalling on whether a supplier’s claim can be trusted.

That is what an external rating is for. It converts a claim into something a third party will stand behind, which is the position a procurement team needs to be in when it has to account for who it chose and why.

We will keep working to lift the rating, because the standard behind it is the one our clients rely on every day. To talk through what our credentials mean for a tender or a supplier review, contact our team.
